FAQs

Linen has been used for thousands of years and is known for its luxurious, durable and planet friendly properties. It is also naturally antibacterial, hypoallergenic and thermoregulating. This means it allows air to flow through the fabric easily.

Its long lasting nature combined with the fact that it becomes softer with each wash makes it a favourite choice for homeware and bedding.

Importantly, linen is an extremely sustainable fibre. It has the lowest carbon footprint of all materials and can be grown with no irrigation or pesticides.

That’s why we think linen is an ideal fabric for bedding, the home and your family.

Wool is a natural insulator and breathable – keeping you warm in winter and cooler in the summer. It’s an ideal bedding material because it helps your body maintain an optimal temperature for ultimate comfort and rest.

When it comes to wool and babies, researchers have found substantial benefits. For example, weight gain in underweight newborn babies was 61% higher when they slept on a wool underlay rather than cotton!

Wool fibre is also totally renewable. Every year, sheep produce a new fleece as a result of grass, water, air and sunshine. When it comes to end of life, the fibre is then biodegradable on land and in water. Further, when it decomposes, it releases nourishing, nitrogen-based nutrients.

In contrast, petroleum-based fabrics such as polyester, acrylic and nylon do not have these natural abilities and release microplastics when washed.

That is why we have chosen to use 100% ethically sourced British wool – not blended with other fibre or polyesters – as is often seen elsewhere.

When cared for, wool will continue to look and feel great for many years to come.
